Hoya lacunosa 'Mint' new growth emerges a light mint green and matures to silver mint in high light.

Hoya lacunosa is named after its prominent characteristic of having "lacunose" leaves/surfaces (sunken between the veins). It is commonly referred to as the Cinnamon Hoya, for the light and spicy fragrance of cinnamon from its blooms. Hoya lacunosa is perfect for indoor cultivation year round, will grow in a variety of lighting conditions and flower readily even in lower levels of light. It has a pendant growth habit that looks best in a hanging basket but can be trained to climb.

Hoya lacunosa can produce dramatically different foliage in response to differing cultural conditions. The foliage is fairly small, its ovate to lanceolate leaves are set closely along the stems. The blooms are comprised of umbels of 15-25 small, usually revolute white to cream colored flowers forming a ball, covered in dense, silvery hair with pale yellow to red-rimmed coronas. The flowers last an average of 4-5 days and produce very little nectar. This hoya prefers a moist soil and will not tolerate drought.

Hoyas are mostly epiphytic creeping, twining or vining plants that have a vast array of different leaf shapes, sizes, textures & colors! If provided with the desired conditions Hoyas can bloom, their flowers varying widely species-to-species with many different colors, sizes & even scents! Many Hoya develop purple spots, streaks or patches on the leaves as a response to light exposure. This is commonly referred to as sun stress, is completely natural and normal - sometimes the entire leaf can turn various shades of purple/red. This is not disease and is actually a sign that the plant is healthy.

~Do Not let Hoya sit in excess water. As epiphytes, in the wild they would be growing on tree trunks or branches in the forest understory where they would get most of their water just from dew or moisture in the air.

~Hoya are considerably hardy & tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions, but for the best growth it is recommended to provide higher levels of humidity.

~Do Not remove the peduncles [flower stalks] after your Hoya has finished flowering. Hoya are able to rebloom again & again from the same peduncle!

~Feed regularly during the growing season with a low nitrogen fertilizer containing sufficient amounts of phosphorous and potassium.

Beautiful plant as usual! I absolutely love shopping at Gabriella Plants and have been for about 3 years now. I just had to get another Hoya Lacunosa "Mint" due to my other one succumbing to spider mites (not their fault another plant I bought had them from a different company). And now I can't wait for this one to grow big and beautiful!

Gabriella Plants is awesome! I am so glad I started ordering from them. They are kind people who are willing to be helpful if you have questions about plant care. They sent me an already trailing Hoya Lacunosa Mint that I added to another one I had ordered from them a few months ago! I highly recommend this small business for live plants!!

Amazing experience as always! Although the plant arrived looking rough, the company was more than helpful and provided a refund and free winter shipping for my next order. I have always been more than happy with this company, with their plants arriving healthy and strong. This plant had yellowed leaves, leaves falling off, and some black spots. But after a week of acclimating and resting, it has since grown two new stems with leaves! It's also looking a lot better. Shipping can be rough on a plant, but give it some time. I will always order my plants from this company

Although the plant arrived almost dead (thanks USPS) the company kindly offered a gift card of $38, plus winter protection for my next plant, a Hoya Chelsea that is still in transit (once again... thanks USPS). The plant arrived with yellowed leaves, and looked like it had been dropped as the soil and the plant were crooked. Fortunately, it has since grown two new stems and some leaves after acclamating to the environment. Gave it some water and fertilizer once received, and even though there are still leaves yellowing and falling off, it has new growth.
