Scindapsus pictus Hassk, commonly referred to as 'Snake Skin', is popular as an indoor ornamental plant for its slow growing, climbing, shingling growth habit when provided with a support - known for its attractive, white spotted, green, juvenile leaves. In its native habitat can reach heights of approximately 30' into the tree canopy. Alternate, egg-shaped or heart-shaped juvenile leaves are leathery, fleshy, green with white blotches or spots at the lower portions of its stem; as it climbs the mature leaves that develop at the tip of the plant are oblong, lance to heart-shaped, and pale green below. The native range of this species is Southeast Bangladesh to West & Central Malesia, grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.
