Marcgravia umbellata is a tiny plant with a big personality! The foliage of this fast growing climbing vine goes through a series of changes as it morphs from a juvenile to a mature plant that can reproduce with a most fascinating inflorescence. Marcgravia are semi- or hemi-epiphytic, meaning it may become epiphytic after losing contact with soil. Can revert to juvenile phase when it starts growing out into the air with no support structure. Grows best when provided with a support to climb up, moderate to high light, evenly moist soil and moderate to high humidity. Commonly referred to as "Monkey Paws", makes a wonderful mixed planting companion and background plant in terrariums and vivariums.
