Hoya engleriana is a small leaved Hoya originating from mountainous ranges shrouded in fog so this species requires cooler temps and high humidity. Small white flowers with pink coronas are very similar to those of Hoya Bella.
Named in honor of Dr. Adolf Engler, professor at the University of Berlin and director of the botanical gardens who founded and edited the periodical Botanische Jahrbücher (“Botanical Yearbooks”) He wrote several works on plant geography and taxonomy, and collaborated with Karl Prantl on the early volumes of The Engler and Prantl system of flowering plant classification which was the principal one in use until the 1970s.
~Do Not let Hoya sit in excess water. As epiphytes, in the wild they would be growing on tree trunks or branches in the forest understory where they would get most of their water just from dew or moisture in the air.
~Hoya are considerably hardy & tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions, but for the best growth it is recommended to provide higher levels of humidity.
~Do Not remove the peduncles [flower stalks] after your Hoya has finished flowering. Hoya are able to rebloom again & again from the same peduncle!
~Feed regularly during the growing season with a low nitrogen fertilizer containing sufficient amounts of phosphorous and potassium.
