This is an incredibly show-stopping subspecies of begonia with large pink striped leaves! Begonia brevirimosa subsp. exotica is a humidity loving species and are perfect for terrariums or sealed enclosures.
**Special note for this plant: These can be difficult to ship and we are NOT responsible for this specific item's arrival condition unless significant stress was caused by being in transit, such as a broken box or snapped stems. Leaf blemishes/loss are normal, as they do not like the lack of light or humidity at all. These Begonia NORMALLY suffer some leaf loss but they will bounce back quickly if given the proper moisture/sunlight/warmth/humidity.
Begonias enjoy lots of bright indirect light, but no direct sun. These can grow in artificial light like fluorescent, although experiences vary. Let the top of the soil dry before watering again. They enjoy a good soak, but need to dry out mostly between watering. They like warmer temperatures and should not be subjected to under 60 degrees. Although Begonias like humidity, they do not like being misted. Because of their textured surface, molds and mildew can form if the plant leaves are overly wet.
General Begonia Care Tips:
Light: Foliage Begonias prefer bright, indirect sunlight, whereas blooming begonias’ light needs vary.
Water: Begonias prefer moist but not soggy soil so make sure the soil and pot are well draining.
Fertilizer: Feed once a month during the growing season with a diluted liquid fertilizer.
