Alocasia 'Regal Shields' is the hybrid cross of Alocasia odora and Alocasia reginula aka "Black Velvet". Getting it's cold tolerance and larger stature from odora, and it's unique coloration and pleating from reginula, 'Regal Shields' is the perfect combination of both of these plants!
~Do Not let Alocasia sit in excess water. Alocasia are prone to rot if left with “wet feet”. Once watered, make sure to drain any extra water.
~Do Not place in full sun. Though some larger varieties can be acclimated to full sun, our Alocasia have been grown under shaded, greenhouse conditions.
~Alocasia are rhizomatous, meaning as they grow they will produce offshoots on short stems at or below the soil line. If you see bulb-like balls [known as corms] in the pot, Do Not remove them as these will grow to become new Alocasia!
Absolutely gorgeous. I have a bit of an obsession with alocasias at the moment, and the dark leaves were a perfect edition! I have some alocasias growing outside, and I needed something to match indoors. Packing was careful, yet durable. After only having it for less than a week, it's already giving me a new leaf! I cant wait to see how big it will get! I also put it in some of GPs soil, and it is loving it!
The plant arrived out of the pot and a little banged up, but it’s a very healthy plant that perked up after being repotted with a drink.

The regal shield was packaged very well! 4 beautiful, fully intact HUGE leaves. The 4" black velvet next to it for scale. Regal shields was also somewhat root bound -- 3 or 4 larger roots at the bottom of the nursery pot. The leaf has an iridescent sheen to it and I cannot wait to see it grow. I would recommend buying from Gabriella's!

I was so worried because it got stuck in the mail for a few extra days, but when it finally arrived, it was in PERFECT condition. I was actually shocked, the plant felt firm and so healthy. I can’t wait for it to get big!
Arrived well packaged and larger than expected! One small bottom leaf was yellow so I snipped it off and the other bottom one looks droopy but other than that It’s perfect!
