Tillandsia streptophylla earns its name from the latin strepto- meaning twisted & phylla- for leaf, referring to this Tillandsia's remarkably curly leaves that surround the bulbous pseudobulb body!
This tillandsia may have some aerial roots present but because Tillandsia are unique epiphytes, their roots are not designed to uptake water, but instead are primarily for the function of anchorage; allowing them to cling onto a surface like a tree branch in the wild & not get blown away by the wind or storms.
Some Tillandsia streptophylla may "blush" a pinkish/reddish color in the center of their new growth for a variety of reasons: genetics, higher light, or beginning stages of flowering.
