Another Alocasia to add to the collection. Also known as 'Purple Sword'. Dark green leaves with purple undersides are long and narrow with wavy edges. Mature size is between 3'-5' depending on whether you grow it in a container indoors or plant it in the ground outdoors. Place in bright indirect light. Needs consistent moisture, water when top 1" is dry. Be careful not to overwater, it does not like soggy soil. Keep above 65F.
~Do Not let Alocasia sit in excess water. Alocasia are prone to rot if left with “wet feet”. Once watered, make sure to drain any extra water.
~Do Not place in full sun. Though some larger varieties can be acclimated to full sun, our Alocasia have been grown under shaded, greenhouse conditions.
~Alocasia are rhizomatous, meaning as they grow they will produce offshoots on short stems at or below the soil line. If you see bulb-like balls [known as corms] in the pot, Do Not remove them as these will grow to become new Alocasia!
My plants arrived healthy and beautiful, as always! Gabriella Plants is the first place I ever ordered plants online, so I got spoiled with the secure packaging, healthy plants, and care that’s taken in shipping. I have since ordered from a few other places and definitely have had some mixed experiences. Came running back to Gabriella. ☺️
Shipment took an extra 4 days to be delivered, and this Alocasia was stressed. Just repotted and seems to be doing just fine. Extensive root system earned it a bigger pot!
Gorgeous plant! The stem is mottled with purple and light green. Arrived with no issues due to fantastic packaging. Some of the smaller leaves have yellowed and dried up since receiving, but that’s expected as the plant adjusts. Excited to see how the leaves change as it matures :)
I have over 300 plants in my house plant collection thanks to Gabriella Plants 🤔. What more is there to say LOL. I am so a plant addict but no shame here. Every one of my plants is packaged so perfectly and carefully by their amazing team! And each and every one of the plants I have received are so beautiful. I guess that’s why I keep ordering more and more and more.
Arrived in perfect condition — even shipping to cold New York! I am excited to see it thrive and hoping the winter insurance was enough to prevent cold shock. Will order from Gabriella’s again!
I feel like I got the purchase photos one. It is super healthy. Way bigger then I though. Really lovely stem coloration. She needs a little wipe down but she’s transferred really well!

Thank you for leaving a review, Christina! We are so sorry you were disappointed with this plant but we're glad we were able to get in touch and provide a solution for this issue.
Happy with the purchase. The plant I received was in great shape, aside from some of the older & smaller leaves (which were yellowing). But there were still several larger, younger, healthier leaves.

Originally bought one for me and one for my mom, but I just changed my mind! They’re so perfect and beautiful!
I was happily surprised by the pattern on the stem of this guy, considering I couldn't really see the detail in the website photo. This alocasia is absolutely stunning!
I bought this for my daughter’s birthday (she has a large collection of Alocasias). It arrived packaged so well that all of the 6-YES 6-leaves were well protected!! It’s a beautiful plant and my daughter is very happy!! Thanks so much!!
The plant arrived quickly and was in amazing condition. Shane really takes the time to wrap the plants well. I would not hesitate to recommend Gabriella Plants to anyone. I have already placed another order based on my initial experience.
This alocasia is much better in person. Expertly shipped (as always) and damage free. I’m excited to add alocasia lauterbachiana to my collection. Thanks Gabriella Plants!
2nd order from Gabriella this summer! Very pleased with the speed of shipping. Plant came in great condition, one of the smallest leaves is yellowing but that’s from the stress of shipping, not reflective of anything the growers did. I most likely won’t be ordering until spring as the climate I’m in in winter isn’t conducive to shipping plants but I definitely will be ordering again in the future!
I love the plant first and foremost. Very fast shipping and great communication from the seller. The packaging could use some work when my plan arrived all the dirt was out of the pot and just rolling around in the box. My plant had one baby leave dying and a second leaf on its way out but I still have three healthy beautiful leaves showing no signs of them dying. I spoke to the seller about the packaging he took my experience and suggestion and was very appreciative and friendly to communicate with. I do plan on buying more plants from this nursery because I can tell that the people who work there and the owner take pride in the product that they sell and will ensure to the fullest that their customers have the best experience.
Worried about your plants arriving safely in chilly weather? Add this to your order! We highly recommend adding Winter Insurance if your local HIGH temperatures are below 45 degrees in your location or if your order is using UPS Ground as the shipping source, as it will likely pass through colder states on the way.
We grow tens of thousands of plants every single year, but every week, our teams pick out only the BEST from what's now ready to ship so you get the freshest plant possible.
We are committed to providing an accessible experience for all customers.
