When immature this Staghorn fern may slightly resemble the more common Platycerium bifurcatum but that is where the similarity ends! This staghorn is unique in that it is a semi-arid, desert dwelling staghorn, found naturally on rockfaces in Australia that can reach up to a scorching 120 degrees F.! Also known as the "Silver Staghorn" due to the fine hairs that cover the fronds giving the plant an overall silver appearance. As it matures the fertile fronds are much more slender and fringed than the typical P. bifurcatum as well. A must-have for any serious plant collector!
Best grown mounted and allowed to dry out between waterings.
